Taking Steps to Burn Calories

Walk it a couple times at a natural pace and average the number of steps to determine how many steps it takes to walk a mile. Pedometers can help keep track of the number of steps taken in a day. The average person takes about 2000 steps per mile. Depending on the length of a person’s legs and their stride, it can take 1760 to 2640 steps to complete a mile.

A good pace to walk is to walk a mile in about 15 minutes. The pace of the walk should cause the heart rate to increase for optimal results. When you can’t talk without gasping for air, then the pace is probably too fast. When you can carry a tune while walking, the pace is probably too slow to get good results.
